Kalimantan
Kalimantan is the Indonesian portion of the island of Borneo. It comprises 73% of the island's area. The non-Indonesian parts of Borneo are Brunei and East Malaysia. In Indonesia, "Kalimantan" refers to the whole island of Borneo.
About the island of Borneo - This is an island in Indonesia that has not been widely explored by tourists but has a lot of uniqueness and attractiveness including also rich in cultural heritage. Kalimantan Island is famous for its tropical forests and has the most natural resources in Indonesia. Exotic flora and fauna are also offered by Kalimantan.
In the beginning, the island was inhabited by Dayaks as indigenous Borneo. Usually they live in the forest and live nomadically. But at this time the changes and the flow of modernization have brought some indigenous Dayak tribesmen to get along by mingling into one with people from various ethnic groups in the city. Dayak people live in long houses called Lamin or Umar Daarul. Usually a house is occupied by 50 or more people. There are many Dayak tribes and sub-tribes recorded on the island of Kalimantan.
The river plays a very important role in the communication and economy of its population. Most people live and center along the river flow including their activities and their homes. Kalimantan is divided into 4 provinces, namely East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and also West Kalimantan. Each province has its own characteristics, language, natural potential, culture and uniqueness
